Episode Recap: Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington

Season 3, Episode 3: Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington

Recap: The toy factory at which Peter works is taken over by a cigarette company who hires Peter as the new president. He is then sent to Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist so they can create toys that encourage kids to smoke, and the entire family can’t help but enjoy the perks that come with the job.

My take:

You need to be in the right mood to watch this episode. It’s good but you need to be in the right mood. There are two themes - killing strippers and smoking.

The episodes starts with Lois finding out (via a dream) that Stewie plans to takeover the world. “Bravo Lois, the last horse finally crosses the finish line!”

Brian drops a funny line “Your excuses are lamer than FDR’s legs.”

Peter calls in sick and takes the family to the Red Sox opening day and runs into Mr. Weed at the game. What Mr. Weed is doing at a baseball game is beyond reason.

Dilbert clip is fairly lame on purpose.

The Eldorado Cigarette Company takes over the Happy Go Lucky Toy Company. They use toys to get children addicted to smoking with a toy called “Baby Smokes A Lot.” A little absurd considering people start smoking because they learn the behavior from their parents.

Peter becomes President. He tries to sharpen his finger and “something else” then heads to Washington. It’s all downhill after that.
