Episode Recap: Boys Do Cry

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Season 5, Episode 15: Boys Do Cry

Recap: The family starts going to church when Lois gets a job as an organist, but Stewie gets sick off of Communion wine, which convinces the congregation that he’s possessed. The Griffins then move to Texas, where Peter becomes a cowboy, Stewie enters the “Little Miss Texas” pageant and Chris and Meg sneak into President Bush’s ranch.

My take:

A truly great episode!

The Griffins move to Texas! They’re all backward and politically stubborn as a mule. Shouldn’t they have used stubborn as an Elephant.

Episode Recap: Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Season 3, Episode 3: Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington

Recap: The toy factory at which Peter works is taken over by a cigarette company who hires Peter as the new president. He is then sent to Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist so they can create toys that encourage kids to smoke, and the entire family can’t help but enjoy the perks that come with the job.

My take:

You need to be in the right mood to watch this episode. It’s good but you need to be in the right mood. There are two themes - killing strippers and smoking.

Episode Recap: Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Season 3, Episode 17: Brian Wallows and Peter’s Swallows

Recap: Brian gets a DUI and is forced to care for a bitter, old woman who used to be a jingle singer. After discovering the woman’s brighter past, Brian tries to brighten her life. Meanwhile, Peter grows a beard and houses a family of baby birds.

My take: Grizzly Adams lives with a bear named Ben and hangs out with a guy named… Steve?

Brian and Peter go to a laser rock show. If you’ve never been to one, go. They’re actually quite cool.

Episode Recap: Peterotica

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Season 4, Episode 24: Peterotica

Recap: After reading an erotica book that he thought was bad, Peter writes a collection of his own, leading to Lois’s father, Carter, to lose his money. Unable to cope with their middle-class lives, Peter and Carter set all differences aside and team up to get rich quick. Meanwhile, Stewie trains for the Olympics.

My take: This is a  classic!

Quagmire takes the crew to his favorite porn shop where Carol Burnett works part-time as a janitor.

Stewie does gymnastics and pole vault and eventually a floor exercise which leads to an accidental but not lethal glass would.

Episode Recap: The Tan Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Season 5, Episode 11: The Tan Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Recap: Peter ends up beating up a bully who’s been harassing Chris, soon realizing that bullying is fun and ending up becoming a bully himself until Chris stands up to him. Meanwhile, Stewie becomes obsessed with getting a tan, though he ends up getting a nasty sunburn and fears he’s developed skin cancer.

My take:

One of the better episodes from Season 5. Quagmire goes ape shit on the golf course. This is the second time we’ve seen him go a little batty over the dumbest things - he went a little crazy when the crew never heard of Wings.

Episode Recap: Road to Rupert

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Season 5, Episode 9: Road to Rupert

Recap: Brian accidentally sells Stewie’s teddy bear, Rupert, at a garage sale. This, of course, upsets Stewie, so Brian takes him on a cross-country road trip to Aspen, Colorado, to find him, where Stewie challenges the culprit to a ski-off to get him back. Meanwhile, Peter’s licence is suspended and Meg becomes his personal chauffer.

My take:

One of the best Family Guy episodes.

Intro starts like a Tom & Jerry clip. Rupert gets sold at a garage sale. Peter sells his anvil and buys his own racing gloves. Herbert makes an appearance looking to buy Chris’ shorts at the aforementioned garage sale. Even though he’s creepy, very creepy, Herbert cracks me up.

Episode Recap: Bango Was His Name Oh!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Season 4, Episode 29: Bango Was His Name Oh!

Recap: Stewie sees for a man on TV who looks just like him. Convinced this man must be his real father, Stewie takes Brian to go on a cross-country road trip with Quagmire to find him and discover the truth. Meanwhile, Peter and Lois try to help Chris and Meg get dates so that they can have some “alone time.”

My take: One of the best! The best part about watching this Family guy episode the first time is that you didn’t really know what was going on and where the story was headed with Stewie and the Stu. Watching it again is even more fascinating since you can focus on the really awesome jokes.

Episode Recap: Chick Cancer

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Season 5, Episode 7: Chick Cancer

Recap: Stewie ties the knot with his old friend Olivia, but their relationship quickly turns into a traditional marriage full of resentment and bickering; things get ugly when they go on a double-date with Brian and Jillian. Meanwhile, Lois introduces Peter to chick flicks, which inspires him to make a chick flick of his own.

My take:

For some reason, I usually tune this episode out. So my take is random, disorganized and rather jagged.

Olivia the Tasty Juice girl.

Sandra Oh makes an appearance.

Episode Recap: Prick Up Your Ears

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Season 5, Episode 6: Prick Up Your Ears

Recap: Lois volunteers to teach sex-ed class after discovering Chris has been getting bad information on sex, though she is soon replaced by a Church spokesman. Meanwhile, Meg and her new boyfriend take an abstinence pledge but still manage to find a loophole, and Stewie goes to great lengths to destroy the Tooth Fairy.

My take:

Overall a good show. Some of the more memorable clips include the cat launcher. I have a cat so there are times I wish I could launch her across the room.
